As the colder weather approaches, sometimes it is difficult to keep warm even when your health is in perfect condition. When you are a pediatric cancer patient, this can be even more difficult! Not only is keeping warm important for your body, but it provides a sense of emotional comfort to the individual as well.
After doing some research on our end, we have found the following ways are simple tricks to keeping warm this winter:
- Utilize a heating pad, hot water bottle or manual warmer
- Layer up with your favorite clothes. We added “favorite” because this will assist in developing that sense of comfort we mentioned in our introduction.
- Camp out somewhere near a window [sunny weather permitting]. The natural warmth and light of the sun will provide warmth and natural vitamins the sun radiates.
- Eat or Drink things that are hot. [Take a look back at our Ginger Tea recipe to try for this tip!]
- Fuel your body with the nutrients that it is lacking. When you are feeling especially yucky, try your best to catch up on the vitamins you may be lacking. You can try vitamin supplements-especially vitamin c packs!
- Snuggle up with your family pet.
