Combatting Chemo Side Effect: Dry Eyes

Amongst the numerous side effects that chemotherapy can cause, dry eyes is another one. As winter is approaching fast, dryness can take full force of our bodies. This is especially true when are undergoing chemotherapy.
Chemo dries out your eyes due to its ingredients. There are times when your eyes may water excessively, but this is the way the tear ducts overcompensate for the moisture that’s supposed to be there.
So today, stop by your local grocer and pick up a “Tear Producer” to help with this side effect this winter. One brand we found to be especially effective is Refresh.
Here are a few ways that you can naturally be proactive about lack of moisture in your eyes:
  1. Cold Compresses: This will help with the irritation the dry eyes will cause
  2. Moist Green or Black Tea bags: this helps reduce inflammation
  3. Witch Hazel: Witch hazel has astringent properties and will help reduce the swelling.
